Dragons were on the canal in all their splendour on August 11, 2018, and the Cornwall Waterfest Dragon Boat Race Committee would like to thank all of you who joined in the fun.

Twenty-one boisterous and spirited crews from near and afar paddled in a quest to tame the Dragon and helped to make the event a great success.

We offer sincere thanks to all the competitors, spectators, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and media for the support, positive energy, and community spirit.

The committee is excited to begin planning for the 2019 festival. If you want to be part of the action, reach out to us via our website or Facebook page. Make sure to get your team organized and registered early this year, as space is limited.

About Us

Held on the second weekend of August, Cornwall Waterfest Dragon Boat Festival has quickly grown to become a highlight of the summer events in our community.

Fun and friendly competition is encouraged for those teams entering the Community Division, where many people try out this electrifying sport for the first time or strive to improve their technique. For those teams looking for more of a challenge, the Sport Division never fails to provide breath-taking excitement and nail-biting finishes. Try out the Tug-of-Oar where six paddlers face off against six opponents for control of the boat using strength, skill, and determination.

Waterfest is staged at the historic Cornwall Canal, at Power Dam Drive and Second Street West. In conjunction to the popular dragon boat races, there is a unique market featuring local artisans displaying their wares. Delicious food and drink is served on site. To keep the crowd energized, the Waterfest stage features a variety of homegrown entertainment that will be announced later in the season.

Come and enjoy Cornwall’s beautiful waterfront with family, friends and co-workers while helping to support a worthwhile charity, Cornwall Hospice. Your donations through pledge sheets, 50/50 draws, and the silent auction will help to ensure that loved ones receive compassionate care in a most challenging time.
